In the Moment

88.
Sometimes, I feel conflicted about being a photographer and a parent.

No, it's not that I don't want to brag about my kids' accomplishments... And, it's not that I'm afraid I'll embarrass them, lugging my camera along with us everywhere, and pointing my long lens at them at odd moments... I'm way over that.

It's more a problem of staying in the moment. It's hard to fully enjoy the experience of your child's soccer game/piano recital/gymnastics event/fifth grade graduation/track meet/band concert when you are also trying to record it.

I agree. I find this ESPECIALLY when I am videotaping an event. It is a bit better putting the videocamera on a tripod. So that somewhat solves the videotaping dilemma - now how about taking still pics?
