Managing Expectations

236/365
I finally pulled the trigger on a purchase I have been considering for a while now... Since I had a little cash from my recent brush with employment, I figured the timing was right.

In the ultimate irony, my first batch of shots with my new equipment bears out the old adage, "It's not the camera, it's the photographer." By the time I got the new battery all charged up, it was quite late in the evening, and the tide of inspiration was at low ebb. Also, performance anxiety was creeping in -- could my photos ever justify this beautiful new camera?

Lamely, I took several shots, mostly variations on the "self-portrait in the mirror" theme. Managing expectations being the key to success, I went with the out-of-focus one. Things can only improve from here.

So, it's Pentax again. How is this one different? Are you taking another photo class?
